La Biennale de Montréal: The Grand Balcony

I had the opportunity to visit the Biannale this year and I was absolutely blown away by the fantastic talent. I was luckily accompanied by a few of my thesis colleagues and personal favourite artists: James Knott, Chantelle Hope, Janet Tran, Simone Jones and Judith Doyle.

Curated by art historian, curator, critic Philippe Pirotte, Le Grand Balcon draws on Jean Genet’s Le Balcon, in which the play’s high porch is a space of contestation between revolution and counter-revolution, reality and illusion.

Work by Celia Perrin Sidarous, Nadia Belerique, Marina Rosenfeld, Cameron Rowland, Ben Schumacher
were some of my personal favourites.
